The story behind CarCodes

About CarCodes: OBD2 Diagnostics Made Simple

Real diagnostic guidance, practical tools, and a cheapest-fix-first approach for everyday drivers.

Fix your car without the guesswork

CarCodes started on YouTube, where our fault-code guides help hundreds of thousands of drivers understand what their check engine light actually means and fix it for the price of a part instead of a shop bill. This store is the next step: the exact OBD2 scanners and diagnostic tools we recommend in our videos, tested and picked for real driveway repairs.

Why buy from CarCodes?

  • Tools we actually use. Every scanner and accessory in the store is chosen to match the diagnostic steps in our guides. No random catalog filler.
  • Guides included. Each product links to the matching fault-code walkthroughs, so you know what to do with the code the moment you pull it.
  • Cheapest-fix-first philosophy. We always show you the low-cost causes to rule out before you spend money on big parts.

What is an OBD2 scanner?

Every car sold since 1996 (2001 in the EU for petrol, 2004 for diesel) has an OBD2 port, usually under the dashboard. Plug in a scanner and it reads the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) your engine control unit has stored. Codes like P0420, P0171 or P0300 tell you exactly which system is complaining, which turns a scary warning light into a fixable to-do item.
